Real-World OPSEC Failures You'll Analyze

Every scenario is based on real operational security incidents that could have been prevented with proper awareness training.

Visual Eavesdropping

The Coffee Shop Shoulder Surfer

An employee working on a client proposal at a coffee shop didn't notice someone behind them photographing their screen. Sensitive pricing data and client names were captured and shared online.

Physical Breach

The Tailgating Contractor

A person wearing a delivery uniform carrying boxes followed an employee through a badge-access door. Once inside, they accessed unlocked workstations and planted a rogue USB device on the network.

Network Attack

The Hotel Wi-Fi Intercept

An attacker set up an evil twin Wi-Fi network at a hotel during a business conference. Multiple employees connected and had their credentials captured through a fake login portal.

OSINT Reconnaissance

The LinkedIn Overshare

An employee posted photos of their new office setup on LinkedIn. The images revealed whiteboards with project timelines, internal org charts, and software tools used by the company.

Common Questions

Is this only for office workers?

Not at all. This course covers operational security across all work environments including remote work, travel, and public spaces. The principles apply whether you work from a corporate office, your home, a coffee shop, or on the road.

What about employees who work from home full-time?

Module 3 is dedicated entirely to remote work and home office security. It covers securing home Wi-Fi, VPN best practices, video conferencing security, and managing access to work devices in shared living spaces. Remote workers face unique OPSEC challenges that this course directly addresses.

Does this replace physical security training?

This course includes physical security awareness as part of a broader operational security framework, but it does not replace dedicated physical security training for security personnel. It provides the foundational knowledge every employee needs about badge access, tailgating prevention, and visitor management.

How does OPSEC relate to cybersecurity?

Operational security is the human layer of cybersecurity. While technical controls protect systems, OPSEC protects the information and behaviors that attackers exploit through social engineering, physical access, and reconnaissance. Strong OPSEC practices complement and strengthen your technical security controls.
